As we reflect on the 86th Legislative session, it is extremely important to take a moment to thank our members for continuing to advocate for the funding and policies that allows the SWCD programs to operate. This session, thanks in large part to their help, TCAWS was successful in increasing the dam safety and construction funding in the State’s budget, including $150 million in new money. We were also successful in preventing any efforts to reduce the ability of the Soil and Water Conservation Board to remain to predominate agency for public/private partnerships with landowners.
Throughout the legislative process J Pete and Todd were asked numerous times to advise and weigh in on policies that could have both a positive or negative impact on the Agriculture industry as a whole. This is proof that the efforts each of our members have made are paying off and that TCAWS is viewed as an organization that understands the needs of the soil, water and the agriculture community as a whole.
Again, thank you for your trust and support of our efforts at TCAWS. We are continuing to build greater awareness of the importance of your district conservation programs with state legislators and leaders. We proudly promote SWCD's work at the local level and your dedication to soil and water conservation in Texas.
Please contact J Pete or Todd if you have any questions
